Being a Commissioner and an Advocate

AS A COMMISSIONER for a housing authority or similar organization, you were appointed or elected to enhance the quality of life for those who we serve: the residents who live in our buildings and avail themselves of our services. Commissioners have many and varied responsibilities, most of which I won't discuss in detail here. Being a commissioner requires a great deal of learning, both formal and informal—I have been taking class after class on how to be an effective commissioner for more than 20 years!
