Familiar faces back on championship parade at Great Yorkshire Show

Judge Andrew Dennison, of Denmire Holsteins in Cumbria, held centre stage as the 161st show got under way. 76 Holsteins from around 20 different exhibitors were on show, representing not only Yorkshire but also Cumbria, Lancashire, Derbyshire, and Durham - with a couple of exhibitors travelling to show for the first time. Some of the most keenly-fought (and certainly the biggest) classes of the day were the early ones. Calves born in 2018 had to be split into three subclasses, with seven, and then 11 and 10 animals forward.
