The goal of Ritual and Remembrance is to show how the Sala-sacans, a Quichua-speaking indigenous group in the central highlands of Ecuador (Tungurahua province), have 'shaped and continue to shape their religion through the performance of collective and individual rituals tied to the sacred landscape' (p. 2). By landscape Rachel Corr means both natural (mountains, hills, trees) and human-shaped features (pathways, especially crossroads).
