Mapping Wonderlands: Illustrated Cartography of Ari-zona, 1912-1962

In Mapping Wonderlands, Dori Griffin provides a thorough examination of scores of tourism maps and other-cartographic products designed to attract visitors and new residents to Arizona during its first 50 years of statehood. She argues that these examples of illustrated cartography worked to tell stories of the state, its built and natural landscapes, as well as its history. The book's seven chapters are richly illustrated and, in an appendix, the author includes short biographies of the 'popular cartographers' who created the illustrations she studies.
