In this report, I am focusing on best practices for shipping hazardous materials and Dangerous Goods safely and in accordance with air regulations. Note- hazardous materials and dangerous goods have the same meaning. Most air carriers require that dangerous goods or "DG" (as referred to in the industry) be offered in accordance with the IATA DGR, (International Air Transport Association Regulations.) The IATA DGR contains all of the International Civil Aviation Organization Technical Instructions (ICAO TI) and is considered to be the industry standard both by shippers as well as most regulatory bodies throughout the globe. The IATA DGR contains the minimum ICAO TI rules as well as additional restrictions that go beyond the ICAO requirements. The IATA DGR cannot be less restrictive than the ICAO TI, but it can be more restrictive. If you're in compliance with the IATA DGR (and all potential State and Operator variations), you're also in compliance with the ICAO TI.
