The authors are to be congratulated on presenting well-documented experimental and numerical studies concerning the behavior of laterally loaded pile groups. Because piles are frequently subjected to lateral force, the evaluation of lateral deflection and bending moment distribution along the pile is a very important aspect for design. The discusser is greatly interested in the modeling of the soil-pile interaction using p-y curves.
