摘要

The authors are to be commended for presenting an extensive database in their original paper of full-scale field load tests for examining bearing capacity of footings in cohesionless soils and for providing modifications to the bearing capacity equations. Using this database, the authors have identified whether soil behaves as a rigid-plastic material and whether the soil fails in general shear mode. This database will greatly help researchers to make further advances to the research related to the bearing capacity.
