摘要

It seems inappropriate that the ratio of the initial confining pressure to the stress at failure was assumed by the authors to be a constant at 60% with a friction angle between 35 and 40° as shown in Figs. 3 and 8 in the original work. The value of the ratio of the initial confining pressure to the stress at failure of granular soils is smaller than 60% based on the results of tests of Fuji River sand, Sacramento River sand, Toyoura sand, and Tachengsha rockfill material. In addition, the ratio of the initial confining pressure to the stress at failure of granular soils is not a constant, but is dependent on density and pressure.
