Hypotheses and observations on the origin of the landscape of southern Norway-A comment regarding the isostasy-climate-erosion hypothesis by Nielsen et al. 2008

Nielsen et al. (2009) have presented a hypothesis on the origin of the topography of southern Norway. They search for a mechanism that can explain both the Cenozoic sediments offshore Norway and the present relief features without involving alternating periods of uplift/erosion and subsidence/covering. They present a model with uninterrupted exhumation of rocks since the Caledonian Orogeny in which all major sediment changes are explained by changes in climate.
