In this Summer 2017 edition of our journal we present papers on topics of enduring interest and significance for general managers of all types of organizations. These include creation and dissemination of tacit knowledge, organizational perceptions and employee job satisfaction, and the evolving nature of effective leadership in creative contexts. Locations include the UK, France and China. The first paper is by Dr. Mahnaz Abbariki, Professors Robin Stanley Snell and Mark Easterby-Smith. Their work takes a dual case study approach to investigate collective learning in knowledge-intensive organizations. Two sites with similar task challenges and contexts were studied. At the first site the approach was more procedural in nature with less emphasis on sharing of tacit knowledge. Here workers were expected to work independently and restricted to using a specific technological platform. At the second site employees worked more informally and inter-dependently using face to face contacts to develop creative solutions to problems and sharing tacit knowledge.
