For the beech stands (Fagus moesiaca) sA the Drimos forest at Xanthi, regression models, which estimate total tree volume v with regard to breast height diameter D or/and total tree height H were compared. A systematic sample of 68 trees was selected, in which breast height diameter D, total tree height H and total tree volume v were measured. In order to compare 32 regression models 10 statistical criteria were used. Finally, 3 regression models were selected as most appropriate as follows: v = 0.580- 0.056Z) + 0.002D~2; v = 0.246 -0.079D + 0.001D~2; v = 0.254 + 0.00000165D~2H~2 - 0.001H~2, which were also validated.
