INFLUENCE OF FOREST COVER ON SNOW WATER MOVEMENT IN CONTINUOUS PERMAFROST REGIONS DURING THE SNOW ACCUMULATION PERIOD

Global warming affects the water supply of forests in spring in the north of the Greater Xing'an Mountains, which in turn impacts the river and estuary runoff in the forest region during the snow accumulation period. This paper tests the dynamic features of upward and downward movements of snow water in winter in a natural forest of Larix gmelinii and the open field in the north of the Greater Xing'an Mountains. The observation was conducted in the snow accumulation period from 2017 to 2018. The results show that the albedo at open field plots in winter was almost twice that at Larix gmelinii forest plots; the short shrub canopy was snow-covered for most of winter, resulting in a high winter albedo; the downward snow water movement was weaker than the upward movement in the forest and the open field; net radiation and wind speed had an obvious influence on the upward snow water movement; the upward snow water movement was very slow. The research results fully reflect the impact of vegetation cover on snow water movement and provide insights into the snow water balance in the Greater Xing'an Mountains.
