摘要

Product design is one of the core strategies for the sustainable development of a company in the global competitive markets. In product design, the designer develops an innovative form to attract the attention of consumers. The innovative form of a product refers to the acceptable degree of a favourable image that the consumer can respond to his or her buying. However, most designers design products are based on their subjective experience or knowledge without grasping the feeling of the consumers. The objective of this research is to propose an evaluation process to make a proper linkage between a different product form element and the consumer expected feeling. The research will be developed based on the concept of adjective terms in Kansei engineering to help evaluate their relationships. During the development process, the grey relational analysis associated with analytic hierarchic process is used to determine the relationship between the shape elements and the adjective terms of consumer cognition. The shape elements of a mouse is used as an example to explore how a curvy element can relate to a suitable adjective term that the consumer is most preferable to expressing his or her emotional feeling. The results of this study can be used as an architecture tool to grasp an appropriate product shape pattern according to the customer demand-oriented product design, and help designers shorten the product sustainable development time.
