Sustainability of the Siena Province through ecodynamic indicators

The articles presented in this volume summarize the results of the SPIn-Eco Project, a 4-year (2001-2004) research program promoted by the Administration of the Province of Siena (Italy) with the financial support of the Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation. The acronym SPIn-Eco means "Sustainability of the Province [of Siena] by means of Ecodynamic Indicators", that explains the need to relate ecosystems to thermodynamics, ecology and social sciences in order to arrive at satisfactory solutions for sustainable development and environmental management.
