Single-phase Flow Thermal Performance Chuawracteristics of a Parallel Microchannel Heat Exchanger

The paper outlines the resutls from a recent experimental study ocnducted on the singlephase flow characteristics of Refrigerant 124 in a parallel microchannel heat exchanger. The experimental study was conducted for a Reynolds nubmer range of 220 to 1250 and a heat flux range of 30 to 90 kW/m~2. The data were compared with the predictions based on established developing, laminar flow concepts. The resutls showed that the increase in heat transfer coefficient was nearly 2 to 8 times the predicted values for the Re range of 200 to 1200. The corresponding increase in pressure drop was 7 to 18 times that predicted by conventional theory.
