Pioneer Corp. is determined to play a larger role in the global aftermarket for car navigation systems. Already active in North America and Europe, Pioneer in March entered the Chinese aftermarket. Pioneer estimates demand for car navigation systems in FY2005 (from April 2005 through March 2006) totaled 6.68 million units as compared to 5.81 million units in FY2004. Of this total, the company estimates demand in North America accounted for 1.2 million units, compared to 930,000 units in FY2004; while demand in Europe accounted for 2.17 million units, compared to 1.9 million units in FY2004; and demand in Japan accounted for 3.31 million units, compared to 2.98 million units in FY2004.
