Panasonic Automotive Systems Co. of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. reports robust sales in Japan of its Strada series of car navigation systems. These systems have digital tuners that allow viewing of high-quality terrestrial digital TV broadcasts. The company's market share in the aftermar-ket for car audio-video (A/V) products in Japan has been growing steadily. However, its after-market business outside Japan has been less certain, alternatively advancing and then retreating. In 2006, the company faced tough competition from low-priced products of non-Japanese competitors. In 2007, the company aims to fight back by promoting the Strada series around the world.
