The demand for home theaters in the United States continues to expand, especially among the middle and high-end income class. The demand is projected to reach US$6.8 billion in 2008, expanding about US$11.3 billion in 2011. At the center of electronic systems for the home are screen projectors, large flat-panel TVs, and acoustic speaker systems. Businesses that are engaged in the installation of these systems, including related equipment, are called custom installers. In the United States, there are about 2,000 custom installers, and the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA), an international trade association of custom installers, screens and approves certified custom installers. Custom installers maintain close relations with communities and assume an important role in serving as sales networks of audio-video (A/V) products.
