As a countermeasure for worldwide environmental issues and global warming, the solar electric power generation is just at the beginning of its development toward widespread application. Cost reduction is an important factor for expanding the use of solar electric power generation. This process becomes possible through mass production that can be created if more and more PV systems are installed with the help of policy-driven projects. There will be however, a limit to expanding the use of solar electric power generation through mass production alone. Therefore, significant cost reduction through further development of the technology is necessary. It is desirable to expand solar electric power generation through a proper balance between development of technology and policy-driven projects.
