DESCRIBING ELECTRONIC, DIGITAL, AND OTHER MEDIA USING AACR2 AND RDA

The stated goal of Describing Electronic, Digital, and Other Media Using AACR2 and RDA is to provide a source of useful information for catalogers creating descriptive records in the rapidly changing world of digital and other (what used to be referred to as) "nonprint" or "special formats." The formats are changing, and so is the metadata world. Descriptive metadata are created for materials in institutional repositories and web-based digital special collections databases and do not use MARC. However, while the tagging may differ, the underlying goal of making resources accessible does not. This book combines a theoretical underpinning of what librarians are trying to accomplish with an extremely practical and inclusive "how to do it" approach.
