M-LIBRARIES 4: FROM MARGIN TO MAINSTREAM-MOBILE TECHNOLOGIES TRANSFORMING LIVES AND LIBRARIES

M-Libraries 4 is a compilation of contributions from the Fourth International M-Libraries Conference that was held in Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire, England, in 2012. It is the fourth in the M-Libraries series, books that have been published based on this conference since it was first convened in 2007. Previous conferences were held in England, Canada, and Australia. The fifth conference is scheduled to be held in Hong Kong. This book is organized into three main sections: Transformation, Inspiration, and Implementation. Each section contains a selection of short chapters (5-12 pages in length) that are contributed by different authors. While the publication has an international focus, about half of the articles are contributed by U.K. authors, perhaps a byproduct of the location of the conference. Each chapter begins with an introduction followed by short focused sections often including tables, illustrations and references. Despite the variety of voices, the book is extremely easy to read and one can just select a chapter at random that is of interest. While only three of the 26 chapters have any relationship to medical libraries, the majority of the topics are generally applicable.
