Complete with discussion questions at the end of each chapter, a glossary of terminology with clear and concise definitions, and a "handbook for teachers" with course schedules, activities, and exercises, the work is definitely intended for classroom use and will undoubtedly become a standard textbook for digital curation courses. Additionally, it is practical for librarians and archivists looking for a substantive introduction to the topic without requiring vast preexisting technical knowledge. It will also be a good refresher to the concerns and challenges that should remain at the forefront of the minds of those primarily responsible for digital libraries and institutional repositories. The book consists of twelve chapters designed to be utilized in a semester-long master's level course. After introducing digital curation, its strategies and models, the following chapters are split up into three additional sections. The first chapter addresses the technical aspects of digital preservation (i.e., formats, metadata, data quality assurance, and repositories). The second concerns digital preservation planning (i.e., data management, disaster planning, and assessment and planning). The last section of chapters discusses considerations for archiving types of data that present unique preservation challenges: personal data, social media, and research data. The content progresses in a logical way for class purposes, building upon previously-covered information.
