The Congressional EW Working Group (EWWG) is taking up the cause of electronic warfare in the new Congress. In a letter, the EWWG called for hearings focusing on EW issues as the FY02 budget is debated. Similar efforts ended last Congress as the session ran out of time. In addition to EW in general, the EWWG will press for special attention to Low Density/High Demand (LD/HD) assets like the EA-6B, F-16CJ, and RC-135 Rivet Joint, used in the suppression of enemy air defenses. The group hopes the Armed Services Committee specifically addresses this unique mission area that has been neglected.
