ARMY AVIATION FUTURE HIGH GROUND TO BATTLEFIELD SPECTRUM DOMINANCE

In November, I wrote about "Capturing the New High Ground" and closed with the vision that future combat forces will depend on a strong EW/IO infrastructure to carry out missions in a battlefield landscape of land, sea, air, space and cyberspace. Nothing could be more relevant than the visionary path the United States Army has embarked toward battlefield spectrum dominance. In 2006, the United States Army made significant progress to establish EW as an internal core warfighting competency. The EW Division stood up in April 2006 and was charged to oversee EW policy, programs and resources. During the remainder of 2006, Army visionaries such as-LTG James Lovelace, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and COL Laurie Buckhout, chief of the Army's Electronic Warfare Division, initiated key steps to stand up the necessary infrastructure.
