摘要

An attempt has been in this study to know the status of traffic volume and sulphur dioxide concentration in the ambient air at three major junctions in the city of Visakhapatnam, with the help of modeling equation. As per the present trends of growth of population in Visakhapatnam city, the volume of traffic and the sulphur dioxide concentrations in the city would likely to increase by 5 times the existing levels. The trend towards urbanization and greater industrialization leads to usuage of more vehicles resulting air pollution, in which some part of the pollution is due to vehicular traffic. A linear regression was fitted between mileage and age of vehicle for two wheelers. Goodness of the fit of the model is checked by the standard Chi-square test (ψ~2).
