摘要

An assessment of CO level in the ambient air at 12 major traffic intersections in Bangalore city has been assessed from June to December 2001 using video-technique. Two wheeler vehicles were predominant and amounted to about 50% of total traffic flow and auto-rickshaws and cars/jeeps/vans account 50% of total traffic flows at the study intersections. In contrast the percentage share of buses in the total traffic stream ranged from 5 to 16%. The 8-hour average CO concentration levels were exceeding the standard permissible limit of 2.0 mg/m~3 prescribed by CPCB at all the study intersections. The multiple regression analysis results of the relationship between the average CO concentration and the number of two-wheelers, vehicle speed and wind speed gave an r~2 value of 0.709.
