A pot culture experiment was undertaken to assess the el'fects of raw coir pith and pressmud with and without inoculation of Rhizobium on growth and yield of soybean (Glycine max L. merr). It was observed that T_3 (Pressmud + Rhizobium) and T_5 treatment (Raw coir pith + Rhizobium) showed increased plant height (102 & 101.3 cm), root volume (0.6 & 0.7 cu.mm), no. of leaves (15.0 & 19.0), number of nodules (7.5 & 8.1), plant fresh weight (13.3 & 12.1 g) and dry weight (4.6 & 5.1 g). Pod length (3.6 & 3.8), number of seeds / pod (2.7 & 3.7) and 50 grain weight (6.5 & 6.9g) also showed a tremendous increase from other treatments. It was also inferred that between the two treatments (T_3, & T_5), T_5 proved to be the best both for growth and yield.
