Seasonal Variations Of Physico-chemical Parameters In The Perennial Tank Of Talsande,maharashtra

Studies on physico-chemical parameters of the perennial tank of Talsande, Kolhapur Dist.(Maharashtra), were carried out during May 1999 to April 2001.The physico-chemical parameters varied seasonally.The secchi disc values varied from 29.4 cm to 48.0 cm.The transparency was minimum in summer and maximum in monsoon.The pH remained alkaline between 8.1 and 9.0 in both years.The electrical conductivity ranged from 367 μmhos/cm to 491 μmhos/cm.The E.C.was minimum during winters and maximum during summers.The dissolved oxygen varied from 4.63 mg/l to 9.1 mg/l and 6.0 mg/l to 10.08 mg/l during first and second year respectively.The D.O.was maximum during summer and minimum in monsoon.The alkalinity values ranged between 149.4 mg/l to 224 mg/l and 131.5 mg/l to 196.2 mg/l during first and second year, respectively.Lower alkalinity was recorded during monsoon and higher during summer.The hardness and chloride values ware minimum in winter and maximum in summer.The nitrate (NO_3-N) and phosphate (PO_4-p) contents were higher in monsoon and lower in winter.
