Effect of metacid-50 median lethal (0.714 ml/kg) and sublethal (0.571ml/kg) doses on behaviour and haematology of the frog Rand hexadactyla has been investigated. Metacid-50 poisioning was cumulative and the toxic effect of the pesticide was systematic and regular. The treated R. hexadactyla became sluggish, lost balance, co-ordination and behaved abnormally. The stress caused by the administration of both sublethal and median lethal concentration of pesticide metacid-50 increased the total RBC count by 1.088 to 1.095 million/cu.tnm, haemoglobin content by 13.8 to 14 gm % and the diameter of the erythrocyte by 14.02 to 17.52u when compared to the control. The effect produced by the median lethal concentration is notably higher than that of sublethal concentration.
