Political Power and Economic Policy: Theory, Analysis, and Empirical Applications

This book makes a valuable contribution to the political economy literature by focusing on the determinants and role of power in setting public policies. The links between political economics, governance structures, and the distribution of political power in economic policy making is analyzed. Both theoretical and empirical models of these interactions are developed in the book. Their focus is largely on the political forces that emerge for a given governance structure. A most general framework is developed for theoretically explaining and empirically quantifying the strategic interactions between the public and specialized interests that ultimately lead to the design and implementation of public policies.
