This book collects, organizes, and presents twenty-one scholarly contributions to the emerging field of law and strategic management. In the Forward, Business Professor Constance Bagley notes that law affects each of the forces that determine the strategic attractiveness of an industry: buyer power, seller power, competitive threat of current rivals, threat of new entrants, and availability of substitutes. Bagley then asserts that "legal astuteness" — the ability of corporate executives to work effectively with legal counsel — can be a source of competitive advantage.
