The Journal of Dairy Science is in the process of implementing support for ORCID, a means to uniquely identify researchers and link them to their research activities and output (e.g., publications, grants, patents). ORCID is an "open, non-profit, community-driven effort to create and maintain a registry of unique researcher identifiers and a transparent method of linking research activities and outputs to these identifiers". ORCID is being integrated into the workflows of many scientific associations, publishers, university, institutions, grant funders, and government agencies.
