The fallen bridge of I-35 in Minneapolis with a death toll of 13, multiple deaths in the Utah mining incident, the burning airplane of China Air in Japan, and near genocide in Iraq with the death count yet to be determined. This is the media face of the late summer of 2007, profoundly tragic and strikingly similar to media coverage of last year, the year before it, and the one before it. This repeatedly tragic narrative disseminated and consumed everyday brings to the fore fascination and concern with the media that have continually been the foundation of JCFs scholarly interrogation.
