摘要

Brain activity was recorded while participants engaged in a difficultnvisual search task for a target defined by the spatial configurationnof its component elements. The search displays were segmentednby time (a preview then a search display), by motion, or were unsegmented.nA preparatory network showed activity to the previewndisplay, in the time but not in themotion segmentation condition.nA region of the precuneus showed (i) higher activation when displaysnwere segmented by time or by motion, and (ii) correlatednactivity with larger segmentation benefits behaviorally, regardlessnof the cue. Additionally, the results revealed that success in temporalnsegmentation was correlated with reduced activation in earlynvisual areas, including V1. The results depict partially overlappingnbrain networks for segmentation in search by time and motion, nwith both cue-independent and cue-specific mechanisms. ■
