Inherently flame retardant fibre (polyamide-imide based) blended with dope treated FR rayon fibre, fabric was treated with fluorocarbon (FC) emulsion at various add-on levels to study the influence of FC on the alame retardant properties. The flame retardancy was evaluated by the limiting oxygen index (LOI), vertical flammability test and water repellency was evaluated by spray rating, and contact angle. The studies reveal an initial reduction in LOI val- ues which remains constant irrespective of increase in FC add-on levels, whereas vertical flammability test (VFT) results showed significant reduction in char length values.
