摘要

An initial factorial analysis study of the effect of coating parame- ters on the penetration of a coating formulation through a fabric structure is pre- sented. Whilst the technology of coating either one or both sides of a fabric is firmly established as a means of conferring improved physical and chemical properties, it is based on much experience and little science. One probable reason for this art is the large number of parameters that must be optimised; a traditional scientific approach would require a large number of experiments that may not be cost or time effective in a typical commercial environment.
