Obituary: Norman Grist

Norman Grist, who died on 7 June aged 92, was Professor of Infectious Diseases and Director, Regional Virus Laboratory, in Glasgow until he retired in 1983. Born in Doncaster, his family later moved to Glasgow, where he graduated in Medicine in 1942. Called up into the Royal Army Medical Corps, his field ambulance unit was one of the first to land in Normandy. He was demobbed in 1946 and resumed his Glasgow medical career, developing an interest in viral neurological disease.
