Call for papers: Present and anticipated demands for natural resources: scientific, technological, political, economic and ethical approaches for sustainable management

Recent generations of the human race have thrived on the utilisation of natural resources at ever-increasing rates. This decade has seen the emergence of several developing countries as important world economies with an ever-increasing thirst for natural resources, both renewable and non-renewable. These natural resources are finite and care must be exercised in their usage to ensure their availability for future human generations. How has the "development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" been part of the international long-term development strategy? Are policies, economic and technological alternatives to merely mining natural renewable and non-renewable resources being actively researched, tested and implemented in any country of the world today? What is being planned for sustainable natural resource management on a global scale?
