The Fiber distributed data interface (FDDI) token ring protocol is a standard for 100 Mbi/s fiber optic token ring. It is of the most important high speed LAN standard. The mian characteristic for FD- DI protocol is that it can support time-critical integrated applications such as voice and video transmis- sion. This is based on two important theorems in the FDDI protocol.
