In this paper we study the UV-induced refractive index changes of a boron-codoped germanosilicate preform used for the fabrication of fiber gratings use of the color-center model. Two groups of performs, non H_2 loaded preform and H_2 loaded preform, are exposed to UV beam at various pulse energy densities and pulse numbers, and their UV-induced excess losses are measured. The corresponding refractive-index changes are determined through a Kramers-Kroning analysis.
