Improved Fractal Method for Singularity Detection in Fingerprint Images

A new technique that uses Discrete Fractal Brownian Motion to describe a fingerprint is presented. By computing certain fractal parameters, a fingerprint's core and delta fields can be roughly detected. Experimental re- sults demonstrate this method to be not only more efficient than the single fractal dimension method, but also more noise-resistant than the traditional schemes.
