POLYMERIZATION OF 2-HYDROXYETHYL METHACRYLATE INITIATED BY VANADYL IONIC COMPLEX

摘要

Rational synthesis of the well-defined poly(2-hydroxyethyl) methacrylate is reported. The polymerization of the monomer is achieved using an ionic complex of VO~(2+) in bulk or alcohol and water mixtures in aerobic or anaerobic conditions at 20-50℃. Collected facts indicate a coordination mechanism for the reaction where hydroxyl group of the monomer plays an important role.
