Companies can no longer resist being a part of the biggest party in cyberspace. With over 700 million members, Facebook offers a manageable platform for companies to reach greater numbers of current and future customers at minimal costs to the company. The popularity of Facebook rests on the basis of the open, public, two-way conversation, which sometimes proves to be just as much of a hindrance as it is a benefit. It is virtually impossible for a company to predict just what message a fan may post to its wall, but it can prepare for unforeseen instances by creating a social media crisis management plan composed of seven easy-to-follow steps.
