Integrating Ethics into Management

摘要

A more comprehensive integration of ethics into management was the intent of the 14th International Symposium on "Ethics, Business and Society", held in IESE Business School on 18th and 19th May, 2006. This issue puts together thirteen articles selected from among more than fifty presented. Three main motives inspired this choice of theme. First, the increasing awareness of how ethics should be taught in business schools, and the necessity to improve the integration of ethics in business education curriculum. Second, the existence of strong criticism of several dominant theories of management offered during the last few years. According to some scholars, business schools not only ignore ethics, but also foster unethical behaviors inside firms. Third, this theme is in line with IESE Business School's tradition of paying particular attention to the integration of ethics and humanism into business and business management. Let me expand a little more on these three motives before summarizing the main contributions of the articles published in this issue.
