These days, members of the Association of Southeast Asian Na- tions (ASEAN) are churning out 1 billion aluminum electrolytic capacitors per month. Even at this level, the Japanese manufacturers in the region find it necessary to accelerate production. As local consumption of such parts continues to grow rapidly for audio-video (A/V) equipment and office electronics, the ASEAN region is becoming the world's supply base for aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Several activities add stimulus to this trend, such as corporate development of international purchase organizations in Singapore, and rising exports to Japanese, North American and European markets.
