The science and technology of ferroelectric thin films and their applications have attracted many researchers and experienced tremendous progress in the past 20 years. The recent worldwide increase in commercial applications of ferroelectric devices, such as smart cards based on non-volatile ferroelectric random access memories, is a symbol of both the maturity and the acceptance of the technology.
