Award and Acceptance of the 50th John Arthur Wilson Memorial Lecture Plaque

Good evening. We will now begin our award ceremony with the presentation of the 2009 John Arthur Wilson Memorial Lecture Scroll. I will speak more about J.A. Wilson, one of our Association's great forefathers, a little bit later. For now we turn our attention to the award recipient.rnThe Wilson Lecture is a very significant event within the Annual Meeting. I was very excited to have had the privilege of attending my first Wilson Lecture at the 91st Annual Meeting in Pinehurst, North Carolina, in 1995. The speaker that year was Frank Rutland. Shortly after his presentation began, however, I was called away by then Vice President Gary Baldwin on an errand, and ended up missing three-quarters of the speech. How very disappointed I was! Following that experience, I vowed to never miss another Wilson lecture if I could help it.
