An investigative study into the annual US$2.5 bn mishandled baggage problem

Mishandled baggage costs the air transport industry around US$2.5bn annually.With passenger traffic growing by 4.7 per cent per year over the next two decades, baggage will become a big issue for the industry. A solution to guarantee the safe delivery of bags is proving difficult to fmd.This research provides an insight into the causal factors of baggage mishandling, identifies the root causes of mishandling and proposes some remedial measures for reducing the mishandling of baggage.
