Outline of Series E2 EMU Train for Hokuriku Shinkansen

The East Japan Railway Co. has prepared an EMU train for operation on the new Hokuriku Shinkansen [now under construction]. This train is named Series E2 EMU train and is capable of passing through continuous and steep gradient and of coping with dual frequency, 50 Hz / 60 Hz, of electric power source of the Hokuriku Shinkansen. Nose shape and coachbody construction of the train are designed to deal sufficiently with environmental problems through damping noises of both interior and exterior of passenger rooms, ill effects of micropressure wave, etc. when the train is running at a high speed.
