In order to accurately and quickly capture the deformed state of tunnel lining surfaces, in 2000 the East Japan Railway Company (JR East) introduced a tunnel lining scanning car (TuLIS) that can record images of the deformed state of tunnel lining surfaces by using a laser measuring device.~(1)) In line with the aging of Shinkansen rolling stock, we have developed and introduced a car that incorporates improvements to the captured-data resolution and measurement speed, as well as new functions for automating crack detection.
